A blank page. A little “no results found” staring back at me like it knew something I didn’t. I sat there with my coffee going cold, thinking, but I wrote all of this. Where is it?

If you’ve ever googled your own name, your own site, your own hard work and come up empty, you are so not alone. That moment happens to almost every blogger I know. And honestly? It happened to me more than once.

So today I want to talk about what’s really going on when your blog seems invisible, and what I’ve learned about making it easier for people (and search engines) to actually find you.

Search engines aren’t ignoring you — they just don’t know you yet

Here’s the thing I wish someone had told me earlier: Google doesn’t magically know your blog exists the second you hit publish. It has to discover you, crawl you, and decide you’re worth showing to other people. That takes time, and it takes a little help from you.

I used to think “if you build it, they will come.” Spoiler alert: no, they won’t. Not without a little nudge.

When I first started, I’d write these long, heartfelt posts and then just… wait. Refresh. Wait again. Nothing. I’d check my stats and see a grand total of three visitors — and two of them were probably me on different devices. It felt discouraging. It felt personal, even though it wasn’t.

Once I understood that being found is a slow, patient process — not a switch you flip — I stopped panicking and started doing small things that actually helped.

I made sure my site was actually visible to search engines (there’s often a little setting you need to turn on — check yours).

I gave every post a clear, honest title instead of something vague and clever.

I linked my posts to each other, so readers could wander around instead of hitting a dead end.

I started sharing my work in places where real people were already hanging out.

None of this was glamorous. But slowly, the “no results found” turned into my name showing up. And then my posts. And then strangers finding me. It happened. It just didn’t happen overnight.

The little things that make a big difference

I’ve learned that being findable isn’t about tricks or gaming anything. It’s mostly about being clear and being patient. Here are the things I actually do now, the ones I’d tell a friend over coffee:

Write like a human. I stopped stuffing my posts with keywords and just wrote the way I’d talk. Turns out, that’s what people search for anyway.

Be specific. “My morning routine” is fine. “The five-minute morning routine that saved my sanity” is better — because it sounds like something a real person would type at 6 a.m.

Give it time. I check my stats way less than I used to. Some posts take weeks or months to find their people. That’s normal.

Keep showing up. Consistency beats perfection, every single time. I’d rather publish something honest every week than something “perfect” once a season.

There was one post I almost didn’t publish because I thought it was too small, too ordinary. A few months later, it became one of my most-read pieces. You really never know which words will land.

What I want you to take away

If your blog feels invisible right now, please don’t take it as a sign that your voice doesn’t matter. It does. You’re just early. Every single blogger I admire started somewhere with zero readers and a whole lot of doubt.

The internet is loud, and it’s easy to feel like you’re whispering into a crowd. But the people who find you — really find you — will be so glad you didn’t give up. Your words are out there doing their quiet work, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.

Keep writing. Keep being you. The right people are on their way. 🤍

I still remember the first time I typed my own blog address into Google and got… nothing.
